Roughen up the sides of the hole if your soil is hard or compacted.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Backfill with Native Soil:<\/strong> Put the exact soil you dug out straight back around the plant\u2019s root ball. Gently firm it down to remove large air pockets, but do not stomp on it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Use Osmocote Correctly:<\/strong> Instead of blending potting mix into the hole, you can use Scotts Osmocote Native Controlled Release Fertiliser lightly on the top layers or broadcast it around the drip zone after planting. Scotts Osmocote Native Premium Potting Mix is fantastic if you are growing these plants in pots or containers but keep it out of the ground holes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Water and Mulch:<\/strong> Give the new plants a thorough deep watering immediately after planting to settle the native soil around the roots.
