Blueberries into a pot.
- Set Up a Mixing Station: Find a clean, flat surface like a wheelbarrow, a large plastic tub, or a heavy-duty tarp spread across the ground to mix your components.
- Blend the 50/50 Soil Substrate: Dump equal volumes of your Rose, Gardenia & Azalea Potting Mix and the Rustic Bark Nuggets into your mixing area. Tip: For one full 25L bag of soil, use roughly half of your 50L bag of bark nuggets.
- Incorporate the Fertiliser Scoop:
Open your Osmocote Controlled Release Fertiliser tub. Check the back label for the exact measurement scoop relative to your pot size (usually 1–2 scoops for a large pot). Sprinkle the fertilizer granules directly into your soil and bark pile, then mix everything together thoroughly with your hands or a trowel.
- Fill the Base of the Pot: Pour your newly combined soil, bark, and fertilizer mix into the bottom of your pot. Fill it up until the top of your blueberry plant's root ball sits comfortably about 5cm below the rim of the pot.
- Position the Blueberry Plant: Carefully remove the blueberry bush from its plastic nursery tub. Center it on top of the soil base in your new pot.
- Backfill the Sides: Fill in all the empty space around the sides of the root ball using the remainder of your 50/50 custom blended mix. Press down firmly but gently with your fingers to eliminate large pockets of trapped air.
- Water Thoroughly: Give the pot a heavy, deep watering. Keep pouring water over the top until you see it draining freely out of the drainage holes at the very bottom of the pot. This settles the soil perfectly around the root system.
- Apply the Top Mulch Layer: Grab a few extra handfuls of raw Rustic Bark Nuggets straight from the bag. Scatter a neat 2–3cm layer strictly over the top surface of the soil, keeping it slightly away from the main woody stem of the plant. This mulch layer acts as a shield to keep the roots cool and stop Perth's spring winds from drying out the pot.
