Plant Care & Setup
- Planting Method: Plant the coir pot directly into the ground or repot it into a larger container with excellent drainage.
- Soil Selection:
o For garden beds, blend your native Toodyay soil with an organic soil improver like Baileys Soil Improver Plus (available at Bunnings Northam) to retain moisture. Do not use standard potting mix in the ground.
o For containers, use a premium red-tick potting mix like Scotts Osmocote Tomato, Vegetable & Herb Premium Potting Mix.
- Sunlight & Climate: Position it in full sun to part shade. Ensure it gets morning sun but shield it from scorching mid-summer afternoon heatwaves.
- Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. It is moisture- hungry and needs regular watering during dry spells.
- Frost Protection: Protect young plants from Toodyay's crisp winter frosts by placing them under a patio or near a warm brick wall.
